AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins is being honored by Clear Channel Outdoor as part of its Black History Month tribute to prominent African Americans.

Throughout the month of February, Jenkins will be featured on 1,200 digital roadside billboards and urban transit shelters in 28 major cities, as well as in public service announcements on social media. In addition to today’s influential leaders, Clear Channel is also celebrating historical icons such as Rosa Parks and Frederick Douglass.

As CEO of AARP, Jenkins leads the world’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization, harnessing the power and passion of almost 2,000 staff members, 60,000 volunteers and numerous strategic partners. Since joining the organization in 2010 and heading it since 2014, she has transformed AARP into a leader in social change, dedicated to empowering people to choose how they live and age.

The recognition is one of several that Jenkins has recently received for her work at AARP. In January, she was named to the 2018 Ideagen Global 100 Innovators List, which highlights CEOs, filmmakers and other global trailblazers who are changing the world through innovation, empowerment and leadership.

“While there are countless factors to measure the impact of individuals and organizations, the Global Innovators 100 List is focused on the leadership and vision of the individuals, especially their focus on innovation as a method to solve for x,” according to Ideagen.

In December, Jenkins was named one of Black Enterprise’s 300 most powerful executives in corporate America. The list includes African American business leaders who hold top-tier and executive officer positions at their respective enterprises, roles that “could not be more vital in a business environment at warp speed,” the magazine noted.

Jenkins’ best-selling book, Disrupt Aging: A Bold New Path to Living Your Best Life at Every Agehas become a signature rallying cry for revolutionizing society’s views on aging by driving a new social consciousness and sparking innovative solutions for all generations.
