AARP Seeks Activists for Nevada Legislative Session

Helping Amplify Your Voice in Nevada State Legislature

AARP Nevada needs your help during the coming state legislative session. We’ll be working on a legislative agenda that will be packed with advocacy on behalf of Nevadans 50+. Your voices will be important to the state legislators you have chosen to make decisions on your behalf in Carson City.

During the 2013 state legislature, AARP will work to protect and increase state-based and Medicaid funding for home and community based long-term care services. These services are much more cost effective than traditional long-term care services and beneficiaries are able to maintain their independence and dignity at home while still getting the basic care they need. In addition, we’ll be looking at legislation to expand resources and protections for working family caregivers.

We’ll also be monitoring the need to strengthen Nevada’s current elder abuse statute; as we anticipate the possibility that a bill will come before the state legislature during the session.

Finally, we will continue to monitor the work of the State as Nevada work towards implementing health care exchanges as part of the ACA.

But we can’t be effective without you. Our Nevada legislators want to hear from people in their districts and AARP is much more effective advocating on your behalf when our testimony before the Assembly and Senate is complemented by a phone call or email from constituents.
