Food, massages and paper shredding: What more could a taxpayer want?

Restaurants and other companies are offering customers tax season specials tomorrow and throughout the week.

So your taxes are filed. Now what? How about some free food? Whether you owe or are owed after tallying your returns, many companies are offering hungry customers free or discounted deals to take some of the edge off of tax season. Here are the best freebies and discounts to watch out for:

Hardee’s
What you get: free sausage breakfast biscuit
When you get it: April 17, until 10 a.m.
What you need to do: Say “Made from Scratch” when you order.

California Tortilla
What you get: free small chips and queso with any purchase
When you get it: April 17
What you need to do: Say the phrase “chipping in” when ordering.

Great American Cookies

What you get: free cookies-and-cream cookie

What you need to do: Just show up. There’s a one cookie limit per customer.

Kona Ice

Office Depot and Staples are each making it easier for people to properly dispose of sensitive documents that aren’t needed after tax season. Office Depot will offer free shredding for up to 5 pounds of documents through April 28. Print your coupon at  officedepot.com/shredding. Staples will offer free shredding services for up to a pound of documents through April 21. Print a coupon at staples.com/coupons.
