To help communities respond to northern New England’s economic and financial challenges, public broadcasters in the tri-state region, the public television stations from VT, NH and ME have teamed with AARP and others to develop a television series and community engagement initiative.
Making $ense New England is a 10-part series, airing monthly through August 2010, with stories about grassroots responses and solutions to the economic crisis of northern New England. This ground-breaking collaborative features timely information and resources on-air, online and on the ground through informative workshop offerings. Some of the topics tackled so far include financing college, job clubs, community loan funds and combating investor fraud.
The monthly programs combine expert advice with stories of how people across northern New England find resourceful ways to weather the economic downturn. Tune into Vermont Public Television the third Thursday of every month, at 8 PM; or visit Making $ense New England to learn more.
