AARP Hearing Center
Once a community enrolls in the age-friendly network, it gains exclusive access to an array of resources designed to support the creation of an age-friendly environment. This includes a members-only platform, a comprehensive toolbox, and a detailed guidebook. These resources offer networking opportunities, a calendar of events, an extensive library, and thorough support to assist communities in meeting the network's criteria. The tools encompass various facets of building an age-friendly community, including how to:
- Develop Leadership Teams: Form a robust and dedicated coalition of partners, such as local government, nonprofits, businesses and residents. This team will lead the age-friendly initiative in the community.
- Conduct a Community Assessment: Evaluate the community's strengths and areas for improvement in relation to the 8 Domains of Livability.
- Develop Priorities: Use the findings from the community assessment to focus on key areas. Set practical and achievable goals for the community.
- Create and Implement an Action Plan: Draft a strategic plan detailing the actions the community will take to address its priorities. Ensure effective execution and monitoring of this plan.
