The company received 66 incident reports from consumers, including five who said the vacuum’s battery pack caught fire. There were three reports of property damage and one burn injury.

Bissell reported that the battery’s circuit boards can overheat and pose a risk for fire.

The recalled model numbers are 2551, 2551W and 25519, which can be found on the machine by removing the clean water tank.

Anyone with the affected product is advised to remove it from the charging dock and stop using it immediately. Consumers can obtain a free battery pack replacement by taking the vacuum to a local Bissell authorized service center or scheduling a free in-home repair visit from a Bissell service technician.

For answers to other questions, consumers can call the company at 855-417-7001 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Saturdays.
