Accessories are always key to good snowman building.

We all have that classic childhood winter photo — the one where you're bundled up toes to nose, proudly standing next to your frozen creation. Long before Elsa and Anna learned to build a snowman, children across the country were braving the cold to build their own versions of Frosty, complete with sticks for arms and carrots for noses. It was always the perfect way to spend a day off from school and burn off excess energy.

With many areas of the country already getting plenty of the white stuff, it seemed like the perfect time for AARP to request the best snowman pictures from the 1950s through the '70s. Simply email a nostalgic photo of yourself with your frozen friend, or the snowman by himself, to ShareWithUs@aarp.org by Jan. 26. Please include the name of the person in the picture, or the person who built the snowman, the individual's city and state, and what you may remember about the photo, including, if possible, the year it was taken. Your photo may appear in an upcoming feature on aarp.org.
