When you think about killer conditions, a stroke may not be at the top of your list. But it’s one of the leading causes of death in America. For every three people who suffer a stroke, one will not survive. It can strike anyone…even you. But how do you know if you’re at risk?

Jim Baranski at the National Stroke Association says the risk factors for stroke can be broken down into two categories: 1) uncontrollable risks, such as age and gender, and 2) controllable risks, like blood pressure, drug and alcohol use and diet.
