Make a Difference: Become an AARP Missouri Volunteer

Give the Best! Give Yourself! Make a Difference! Volunteer!

Making a Difference

AARP is more active than ever throughout Missouri. Every day, we provide new opportunities for our members to speak on issues that concern them, to make their own life choices, to reach their goals and dreams, and to make the most of life after 50. That's where you come in.

People like you have always been AARP's greatest resource. Today, we need your know-how and enthusiasm more than ever to help us achieve the goals AARP members care about most—health and financial security, independent living, safer and stronger communities, and many more.

You can help by volunteering your time, talent and expertise to make a difference in your community, in Missouri and across the country.

Health Action Now!

Americans will no longer settle for a health care system that costs too much, wastes too much and leaves too many without care. At this crucial moment, we have the opportunity of a lifetime to fix our broken health care system. Join the Health Action Now movement now and find out how you can impact health care reform!

Advocacy

AARP is a strong advocate in addressing the issues most important to the 50+ population. Whether it’s ensuring the long-term solvency of Social Security, protecting pensions, or working toward stronger Medicare, AARP volunteers serve as a powerful voice. They are working in the nation’s capitol, in Jefferson City and other capitals across the country, advocating on behalf of AARP members and their families. If you enjoy activities that focus on legislation or contacting elected officials, by phone, letter, or in person to change laws and improve lives, being an Advocacy volunteer is right for you!

Public Affairs

Communication with members and the public about AARP issues, activities and events is critical to the success of the organization. Developing and cultivating relationships with the media and external organizations, as well as serving as an ambassador for AARP Missouri, is well suited for a volunteer who is outgoing and enjoys public outreach efforts. If you’re not shy, this role is for you!

Other Exciting Opportunities

The two AARP Information Centers in the St. Louis area offer space for meetings and events and serve as an information resource for telephone inquiries and walk-in visitors. Volunteers are always needed on-site to provide information and assistance.

AARP Tax-Aide volunteers prepare tax returns for people of all ages with middle or low incomes.

AARP Driver Safety volunteers provide classroom training for motorists over 50 to improve their skills, avoid accidents and traffic violations.

AARP Volunteers Are Respected and Appreciated

Joining an exciting team is only part of the story. AARP believes that volunteer service is a unique and valuable contribution that benefits both the volunteer and society. Put your experience and skills to good use, meet new people, and make a difference in lives. AARP volunteers receive orientation, periodic briefings and trainings, excess liability insurance, expense reimbursement, and have fun too!
