Mickey Hart still performs the signature drumming adored by decades of "Deadheads." But he's now exploring a longtime passion — connecting percussion with the most fundamental rhythms of the universe and the human body.

And Hart has science on his side. His partner in capturing the beats of the cosmos is Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist George Smoot; and he's working with a team of medical researchers as he studies the healing effects of rhythmic stimuli.
