It all began in the early 1900s, when a group of young Chinese immigrants in San Francisco first heard an Italian marching band parading through their neighborhood. They wanted to learn to play, too, and formed their own band.
By the 1960s, the Green Street Mortuary Band was formed - and they've been playing to the dead ever since. Independent producer Julie Caine joins the parade of solemn sounds.
