The Joy of Text, Alphabetter Juice

Humorist Roy Blount’s ode to some of English’s most sonicky words

Author, actor and NPR radio personality, Roy Blount Jr. loves words that roll off the tongue with distinct sound…like sonicky. His book, Alphabetter Juice, The Joy of Text also makes him an etymologist.

According to Mr. Blount, it is only slightly better than his first book about words, Alphabet Juice. Both are chock-full of unique facts, anecdotes and funny origins of the curiously obscure words in the English language. He pulled these eclectic collections of words from sources as respectable as the Oxford English Dictionary and as current as Urbandictionary.com, to which he is a frequent contributor.
