Chuck Leavell: Conservationist and Piano Player for the Rolling Stones
by Mike Cuthbert, August 12, 2008 | Comments: 0
Chuck Leavell has played with the greatest rockers of his generation - from the Allman Brothers to the Rolling Stones. For the Stones, he's held down the piano bench for 20 years, becoming a virtual member of the band, and one of its key assets.
But Leavell is interested in more than music. His autobiography, Between Rock and a Home Place, details his passion for tree farming, and includes some incongruous scenes of Leavell going from gig to gig, studying in the back of the bus for his forestry degree.
