As the drummer for Prince and a successful solo artist, Sheila E seemed to be living the glamorous life. But even as her career excelled a wound from her past was holding her back. At age five, Sheila became a victim of sexual abuse—an experience that has haunted her every day since. It was through songwriting that she was finally able to let go of her troubled past—and today she’s attempting to do the same for children with special needs.
