AARP $25,000 Survey Sweepstakes
OFFICIAL RULES
The AARP $25,000 Survey Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 50 years of age or older as of April 1, 2013. Employees of AARP (“Sponsor” or “AARP”), Promotions.com, LLC, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons living in the same household, whether or not related, of any such employee, are not eligible. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren, regardless of where they reside.
3. HOW DO I ENTER?
The Sweepstakes will begin at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on September 1, 2012 and end at 11:59 p.m. ET on April 1, 2013 (the “Sweepstakes Period”). During the Sweepstakes Period, there are two (2) ways to enter:
A.) During the Sweepstakes Period, join AARP or renew your AARP Membership and complete the AARP Preferences Survey Online at www.aarp.org/myinterests (if you haven’t already).
When you join or renew and complete the AARP Preferences Survey online for the first time at www.aarp.org/myinterests you will receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes.
Or, B.) To Participate By Mail if i.) you have already taken the AARP Preferences Survey Online or ii.) if you do not wish to become a member or take the survey:
Mail a postcard.
You can also enter by hand-printing your first and last name, complete address, birth date and daytime telephone number (including area code) on a postcard, affixing a postage stamp, and mailing it to: AARP $25,000 Survey Sweepstakes, PO Box 1125, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Bulk, pre-sorted, metered, or permit-imprinted postcard entries are not permitted and will be void. All mail-in entries must be postmarked by April 1, 2013 and received no later than April 8, 2013. Mechanical reproductions will not be accepted.
Limit one (1) entry per email address and envelope and per person, regardless of method of entry. Entries received from any person or e-mail address in excess of the stated entry limit will be void. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means and entries made by any means which subvert the entry process will be void. Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any entries submitted through unauthorized channels and any incomplete, lost, late, stolen, postage-due, misdirected, mutilated, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled, delayed or illegible entries, memberships, payments and mail, which will be void. All entries become property of AARP and none will be returned or individually acknowledged. Released Parties are not responsible for failure to receive or record entries, memberships, purchases or mail due to human processing errors or transmission or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, the malfunctioning of any web site, computer system, telephone equipment, Internet Service Provider (ISP), cable, satellite, network, hardware or software or for any other errors or problems of any kind, whether technical, network, computer, mechanical, printing, typographical, human or otherwise, including, without limitation, any errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the Sweepstakes, the processing of entries, memberships or purchases, the announcement of the prize or in any Sweepstakes-related materials. All decisions of AARP, including, but not limited to, eligibility of participants and/or the timing and eligibility of entries, shall be final and binding in all matters.
4. WHAT CAN I WIN? PRIZE AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE ("ARV").
One (1) Grand Prize:
$25,000 cash (awarded in the form of a check). ARV: $25,000.
Prize is not assignable or transferable. Prize is subject to availability, and AARP reserves the right to substitute a prize with a prize of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. Winner is solely responsible for payment of any federal, state and local taxes on prize, as well as any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being awarded. Except where prohibited, acceptance of prize constitutes winner’s consent to the publication of his or her name, biographical information and likeness in any and all media now or hereafter devised for any advertising, publicity, promotional or other purpose by AARP and its designees, without territorial or time limitation or additional compensation, notification or permission. Potential Grand Prize winner will be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release (except where prohibited by law) which must be returned fully-executed within seven (7) days of date of receipt of Sponsor’s notification. Failure to timely execute and return the affidavit/release, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, or the return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable may result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and, at AARP’s discretion, the award of the applicable prize to a substitute winner randomly selected from all remaining eligible non-winning entries received. All prize details are at AARP’s sole discretion.
5. HOW WILL WINNERS BE SELECTED?
A random drawing to select the potential winner will be held on or about April 12, 2013 from among all eligible entries received for the Sweepstakes Period. The drawing will be conducted by an independent judging agency, Promotions.com, LLC, whose decisions are final and binding. Award of any prize to a winner will be subject to verification of that winner’s eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.
6. WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF WINNING?
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. All entries, whether submitted automatically or by mail, have an equal chance of winning.
7. WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF I WON?
The potential Grand Prize winner will be notified by overnight courier mail and/or phone on or about April 15, 2013.
8. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHO WON?
For the name of the winner (available after May 15, 2013), send a self-addressed, stamped envelope for receipt by May 31, 2013 to: AARP $25,000 Survey Sweepstakes – Winners’ Names, PO Box 329, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
9. WHO IS THE SPONSOR?
The AARP $25,000 Survey Sweepstakes is sponsored by AARP, 601 E Street, N.W., Washington, D.C., 20049. The decisions of AARP and the Sweepstakes judges selected by AARP regarding the eligibility of participants, the submission of entries, selection of the winner and all other aspects of the Sweepstakes shall be final and binding in all respects.
10. MISCELLANEOUS:
Entrants, by participating, agree that AARP, Promotions.com, LLC, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (collectively, “Released Parties”), will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by entrants against, any liability, for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death, to persons, or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of a prize (including any travel or activity related hereto or any injury or harm resulting from the use of any prize) or participation in this Sweepstakes. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to participants' or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Sweepstakes or downloading materials from or use of the web site. AARP reserves the right in its sole discretion to terminate the Sweepstakes (or any portion thereof) if the fairness, security or proper operation of the Sweepstakes (or any portion thereof) is compromised by a virus, errors, unauthorized human intervention, tampering or any other cause. Should the Sweepstakes be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, AARP reserves the right to award prize for the drawing from among all non-suspect, eligible entries received for before the termination date. AARP also reserves the right to disqualify any persons determined to be tampering with the entry process, the web site or abusing any other aspect of the Sweepstakes or who are attempting to annoy, harass or threaten any other entrant or AARP’s representatives or who are in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by AARP, and all associated entries will be void. If there is a conflict between these Official Rules and any abbreviated rules, these Official Rules will apply. In the event of a dispute regarding entries received from multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules. Authorized account subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses.
11. OPT OUT:
If you do not wish to receive future mail offers from AARP via U.S. mail, please contact AARP at 1-800-516-1993 or at member@aarp.org and ask to be removed from our mailing lists.
12. CONSUMER DISCLOSURE. NO PURCHASE OR MEMBERSHIP OR SURVEY NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR MEMBERSHIP OR SURVEY WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP IN AARP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SWEEPSTAKES. YOU CAN ENTER FOR FREE BY FOLLOWING THE MAIL-IN ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS IN RULE 3 OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES. ALL ENTRIES HAVE THE SAME CHANCES OF WINNING. YOU HAVE NOT YET WON.
