Diane von Furstenberg's Outlook on Life

In AARP Author Conversation, the fashion designer and philanthropist discusses her new book 'Own It'

For Diane von Furstenberg, age is something to own, to be very proud of.

“I always bring forward what I think people are thinking,” she says. “So if I know that people are wondering how old I am, I say it up front, so I neutralize it. That’s why we have to embrace it, that’s why we have to fly a flag about our age. Because what it is, is you have more experience. That’s it.”

In this AARP Author Conversation, the accomplished fashion designer and philanthropist joined AARP's CEO Jo Ann Jenkins to discuss her accessible, empowering manifesto, Own It: The Secret to Life (March 2021). In an easy-to-navigate A-Z format, von Furstenberg shares her blueprint for enjoying both personal and professional growth at any age.
