AARP's Social Security Q&A Tool

I'm 64. My ex-husband is 58. We were married for 12 years. Can I get a ex-spouse benefit on his Social Security record even though he's not yet 62?

En español | No. In order for you to receive ex-spouse benefits, your former husband must be of claiming age. At that age, the benefit will be available regardless of whether he has actually claimed or not.
