En español | The benefit does increase in value until you reach your full retirement age, at which time you can collect 100 percent of your deceased spouse's benefit. If you choose to collect at age 60 you will receive only 71.5 percent. This amount increases for every month you delay benefits until your full retirement age. However, if the deceased received reduced retirement benefits, your survivor's benefit will be based on that amount. You could be eligible for the maximum amount payable before you reach your full retirement age.
