Do you have questions about Social Security? — Photo by Jim McGuire/Getty Images
Over the past few years, AARP and its financial security experts have received more than 11,000 questions about Social Security. You've sent them to us by phone, letters, emails and live "ask the experts" webinars.

While answering them, we realized that many basic questions were being asked over and over again.
Such as:
- Can I claim Social Security and then keep working?
- What will happen with my wife's survivor benefits if I begin Social Security early?
- I was married for 25 years and stayed home to raise the kids. Now that my husband is remarried, will I have to split his Social Security benefits with his new wife?
So AARP has created a free, online Social Security Q&A Tool that can answer those as well as other perplexing questions. It's like having your own Social Security expert at your fingertips.
You can access the tool on AARP.org after registering on the website.
To use it, you'll choose a keyword that best matches your question — such as "benefits." The tool will then provide a selection of probable answers from our experts. If none of those answers help, you can email your question to us. Our experts will try to answer your question within a week or two, depending on the volume of questions we receive.
The first version of the tool has just launched and we'll be adding enhancements to make it better and smarter.
When you use it, make sure to click on one of the feedback options that's underneath every question and answer. Your comments will help us tremendously.
Feel free to share the tool with your friends, post it on Facebook and Twitter, and join us on our next Social Security webinar.
