Minimum Wage

Where states have minimum wage laws, that wage could be more or less than the federal $7.25 an hour

As the economy is taking its time recovering (the unemployment report is still disappointing news), it can even take two or three jobs to pay bills — especially if those jobs pay minimum wage. The federal minimum wage for workers is $7.25 an hour. While many states have minimum wage laws, five do not: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. Where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two wages. Here is the current minimum wage in each state and D.C.
