Additional Policies and Practices:

Recruiting: Nevada Federal uses senior placement agencies to target mature workers and also posts job openings on AARP's job board.

Workplace Culture / Continued Opportunities: Nevada Federal offers its employees the following learning and development programs: in-house classroom training, online training and certification classes.

New employees are teamed up with a MAP (Mentor Assistance Program) coach for three weeks of one-on-one training. The MAP coach is nominated and chosen by a District Assistant Vice President, and receives a monetary reward.

Long-service anniversaries are celebrated with gifts, announcements, parties and awards.

Because of employee requests, Nevada Federal added a voluntary universal life policy with a long term care rider to their benefit package. This is a more affordable alternative to the previous long-term care program and improves their employee assistance program (EAP) by including the benefit of a free legal consultation as well as additional work and life referral services.

Employees have opportunities to gain new experiences by working on temporary assignments in other departments, working on team projects and by having access to a program of formal job rotation.

Benefits/Health: Employees working 18 or more hours per week receive individual and family medical coverage, individual and family prescription drug coverage, individual and family vision and dental insurance, individual and family long-term care insurance as well as short- and long-term disability.

Health benefits for retirees 65 and over include individual and spouse medical and prescription drug coverage, individual and spouse vision and dental coverage, individual and spouse long-term care insurance, employee assistance program services (EAP), as well as individual and spouse life insurance or other death benefit coverage.

New hires are eligible for all of the above benefits upon retirement.

Flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health reimbursement accounts (HRAs) are available to assist in covering out-of-pocket health care costs.

Next: Extended illness bank, alternative work arrangements. >>
