Health Promotion and Protection: The NEA has a high percentage of officers over age 50. Therefore, to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, there are various committees such as the Panel for Employee Engagement and Recognition (PEER) and Sports and Recreation Club (SRC).

Every two years, PEER will conduct a health screening, arrange eye check-ups, and subsidize other eye disease checks and health talks. SRC organizes various fitness classes such as aerobics, Tai Ji and Yoga.

The NEA has various programs to keep employees of all ages fit. For instance, to keep their employee's weight or Body Mass Index in check, a program called F2 (Flab to Fab) challenge has been organized and implemented. In addition, employees are encouraged to participate in an annual charity run.

Diversity Promotion: The NEA has committees that are made up of members of all ages and departments, which helps ensure that the needs of these groups are taken care of.

Older workers who have accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge are tapped to impart their knowledge and skills at NEA's training center to the existing staff. These older workers also act as mentors to younger officers to guide them through their careers in the NEA.

Finally, a consultancy arm with NEA is being established to tap senior officers as consultants for overseas projects.

Recruitment: Staff above the retirement age of 62 are offered re-employment as long as they are physically fit and good in their past job performance. They may be offered positions that are not as physically straining.

NEA has a policy and procedure to re-employ older workers who have reached 62 years of age. The majority of the contracts will be for three years.

Miscellaneous: NEA offers three paid days of leave every year for staff who need to bring their parents to see the doctor or take care of them when they are unwell. NEA also issues long service awards to retired staff. Their long services with NEA are recognized and they get to maintain strong ties with the existing staff.
