This organization offers bridged employment to workers who reach retirement age

Benefits/Financial: Employees working 16 or more hours per week are offered a 401(k) plan and a 403(b) plan with employer match and a defined-benefit plan. Employees age 50 and over can make catch-up contributions to their plan and may invest in lifecycle funds that automatically re-allocate assets based on age or proximity to retirement.

Financial counselors are available daily to assist employees with free financial planning. Staff members and staff from the financial services firm that administers the retirement plan provide financial information and training to employees. The hospital hosts an annual Benefits Fair where financial experts provide seminars on CHH retirement plans and benefits.

Short-term and long-term leaves of absence are offered without pay to allow for caregiving.

Full- and part-time employees are offered flu shots, health screenings, health risk appraisals, smoking cessation programs, health club discounts, physical activity and weight loss programs, and stress management training.

CHH offers back-up care for children and grandchildren of employees to its full- and part-time employees.  

Benefits/Alternative Work Arrangements: The following alternative work arrangements are offered to employees working 8 or more hours per week: flextime, compressed work schedules, job sharing and telecommuting. Full-time employees are eligible to move to part-time work on a temporary basis.  

Opportunities for Retirees: CHH has 365 retirees and an individual directly responsible for retiree relations. The hospital stays connected with its retirees by communicating regularly, inviting retirees to organization events and by formally acknowledging retirees when they retire. Retirees are offered work opportunities including temporary work assignments, consulting or contract work, full-time work and part-time work.  Retirees also work in casual employment positions that allow them to work up to 8 hours per week.

Age of Workforce: Twenty-seven percent of CHH employees are age 50 and over. The average tenure of such employees is 16 years.
