Employees receive My Atlantic Health News, a free monthly e-health newsletter that is personally customized to provide information pertinent to their and their family's health needs, including reminders for health screenings, exams and immunizations.

Additional Policies and Practices:

Recruiting: Atlantic Health System uses senior placement agencies to target mature workers. The Internet, job fairs and employee referrals are utilized to target retirees for recruitment.

Workplace Culture/Continued Opportunities: Atlantic Health System offers its full- and part-time employees the following learning and development programs: tuition reimbursement, in-house classroom training, online training and certification classes. Employees must work at least 19 hours per week to be eligible for the tuition reimbursement benefit. In the past 12 months, 100 percent of employees participated in at least one of the training opportunities with an average of 75 hours spent in training.

Long-service anniversaries are celebrated with announcements, parties and awards. The 25 Year Club recognizes and celebrates employees with 25 or more years of service.

Atlantic Health System Mentorship Program gives older employees the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with younger employees. Employees have opportunities to gain new experiences by working on temporary assignments in other departments, on team projects and by participating in a formal job rotation program.

Atlantic Health System has its own Ergonomics Department and all employees are eligible for ergonomic evaluations. Ceiling track lifts were implemented to eliminate the stress and strain of moving non-mobile patients.

Benefits/Health: Employees working 22 or more hours per week receive individual and family medical coverage, individual and family prescription drug coverage, and individual and family vision insurance. Individual and family dental insurance and long-term disability are offered to employees working 36 or more hours per week.

Individual and family long-term care insurance as well as short-term disability are offered to full- and part-time employees.

Health benefits for retirees pre-65 and 65 and over  include individual and spouse medical and drug coverage as well as individual life insurance or other death benefit coverage. Retirees pre-65 are also eligible for individual and spouse vision insurance.

Atlantic Health System employees receive the following free hospital and facility coverage benefits: lab and radiology services, on-site nurse practitioner, disease management and wellness programs, as well as all annual physicals and colonoscopies.

In addition, flexible spending accounts (FSAs) are available to assist in covering out-of-pocket health care costs.
