Acclaimed actress overcomes adversity to become a Broadway sensation

Actress Rita Moreno's storied career has put her in a league of her own; she is the first Hispanic to win the grand slam of entertainment awards: a Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Oscar.

Now 80, Moreno continues to enthrall audiences with details of her Hollywood past in her one-woman show, Life Without Makeup. But at the heart of Moreno's story is her native Puerto Rico, and her long struggle for dignity and identity in the Bronx barrios. As Moreno tells us, it was this very search for self, the need to perform, that has driven her six-decade career.
