AARP Arizona is sponsoring a career fair in Phoenix on Thursday, May 13. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The AARP “Helping Experience Work@50+” career fair is free, and will offer workshops on promoting yourself at 50+. The event will also feature tips and techniques for success in a competitive job market. AARP is hosting the events in collaboration with The Employment Guide, a leading national marketing services company that sponsors job fairs nationwide.
The Phoenix event is one of several AARP is presenting across the country in states that have higher than 10 percent unemployment for older workers.
“Older workers continue to face difficult challenges in today’s tough economy and many retirees have been forced back into the job market because their retirement nest egg has taken a hit,” said David Mitchell, AARP Arizona State Director. “The AARP career fair is a great way for them to get reconnected and learn about resources that can help them with their job search.”
The AARP “Helping Experience Work@50+” event will feature job counseling to help attendees assess their skills, interaction with employers who have job openings and an internet café where participants can post resumes. AARP will also have a booth at the event, promoting free online resources that provide important tips and tools to help older workers succeed in their job search.
