Lex Frieden remembers a time when an employer could look at an applicant and tell them they couldn’t have a job because of their disabilities.
Frieden, a professor at the University of Texas Health Science at Houston, played a key role in changing that. Friedman, who suffered a broken neck and spinal injuries in college, was the National Council on Disability’s first executive director in 1984.
His recommendations helped shape laws preventing discrimination against people with disabilities. Listen as Frieden discusses the 20th anniversary of the ADA Prime Time Radio host Mike Cuthbert.
