Full- and part-time employees have access to the following wellness programs: flu shots, health screenings, health-risk appraisals, smoking-cessation programs, health club discounts, physical activity and exercise programs, weight loss programs, stress-management training, monthly speakers on health-related issues, an on-site fitness center, and annual health fairs. Seventy-six percent of employees have used at least one of St. Vincent’s wellness benefits during the past 12 months.

The following dependent-care benefits are offered to full- and part-time employees: on-site care for children and grandchildren, backup care for children and grandchildren, and referral services to assist with care for children and grandchildren and with eldercare.

Benefits/Alternative Work Arrangements: Saint Vincent offers the following alternative-work arrangements to its full- and part-time employees: flextime, compressed work schedules, job sharing, telecommuting, and a formal phased-retirement program. Retirees are able to work under 1,000 hours per year and still collect their pension benefits. Full-time employees are eligible to move to part-time work on a permanent or temporary basis.

Opportunities for Retirees: Saint Vincent currently has 632 retirees and has an employee directly responsible for retiree relations. The health system stays connected with retirees by communicating regularly, by inviting retirees to organization events and celebrations, and by providing them with ongoing access to retirement planning workshops and information. It offers retirees per diem and part-time work.

Age of Workforce: Thirty-five percent of Saint Vincent employees are age 50+. The average tenure of employees age 50+ is 17.3 years.
