Employees have available paid time off specifically designated for caregiving, short-term time off without pay, and long-term leaves of absence without pay for caregiving. In addition, employees can have up to six months off with extensions for special circumstances, flexible scheduling, and telecommuting arrangements.
Full- and part-time employees are offered the following wellness programs: flu shots, health screenings, health-risk appraisals, smoking-cessation programs, health club discounts, physical activity and exercise programs, weight-loss programs (Weight Watchers at Work), stress management training, an on-site wellness center with a swimming pool and fitness classes, and a free, annual mini-physical with lab work. Ninety-eight percent of employees have used at least one of the wellness benefits during the past 12 months.
Full- and part-time employees receive the following dependent-care benefits: on-site daycare for children, grandchildren, and elders; backup care for children, grandchildren, and elders; and referral services to help employees find daycare for children, grandchildren, and elders.
Benefits/Alternative Work Arrangements: CFHA offers the following alternative work arrangements to its full- and part-time employees: flextime, telecommuting, and a formal phased-retirement program. Employees working at least 20 hours per week are offered job sharing, and employees working 24 or more hours per week are offered compressed work schedules. Full-time employees are eligible to move to part-time work on a permanent or temporary basis.
Opportunities for Retirees: CFHA currently has 790 retirees and an employee directly responsible for retiree relations. The health alliance stays connected with its retirees by inviting them to organization events and celebrations, by offering retirees access to retirement planning workshops and information, and by formally acknowledging employees on the occasion of their retirement. The health alliance offers retirees temporary work assignments, consulting or contract work, telecommuting, pool status, and full- or part-time work.
Age of Workforce: Forty percent of CFHA’s employees are age 50+. The average tenure of employees age 50+ is 10 years.
