To help employees meet their caregiving responsibilities, WellStar provides paid time off and unpaid short- and long-term leave.
The Health System offers a number of wellness benefits, including flu shots, health screenings, smoking-cessation programs, health-risk appraisals, discounts at local health clubs, physical activity and weight-loss programs, stress-management training, and access to the Good Life Club.
Full- and part-time employees can use on-site and backup care for children and grandchildren and referral services for care providers for children, grandchildren, and elders.
Benefits/Alternative-Work Arrangements: Alternative-work arrangements at WellStar include flextime, telecommuting, compressed work schedules, and a formal phased-retirement program. WellStar works with its employees nearing retirement to help them determine whether they would like to adjust to different shift options, reduced work schedules, or even to part-time work. Full-time employees can move to part-time work on a temporary or permanent basis.
Opportunities for Retirees: WellStar's 1,171 retirees benefit from the services of a dedicated staff member who is directly responsible for retiree relations. The Health System keeps in contact with its retirees by formally acknowledging them on the anniversaries of their retirement, by inviting them to on-site seminars, by including them in volunteer opportunities, and by supporting the Good Life Club.
Age of Workforce: Thirty percent of WellStar employees are age 50+, with an average tenure of 11 years.
