Fifty-eight percent of First Horizon's full-, prime-, or part-time employees took advantage of the following wellness benefits the company offered in 2008: flu shots, health screenings, health-risk appraisals, smoking-cessation programs, discounts to local health clubs, physical-activity programs, weight-loss programs, and stress-management training. Referral services are available to help employees with their child care, grandchild care, and eldercare needs.
Benefits/Alternative-Work Arrangements: First Horizon offers full-, prime-, and part-time employees flextime, compressed-work schedules, job-sharing, telecommuting, and a formal phased-retirement program. Further, full-time employees are able to move to part- or prime-time work on a temporary or permanent basis. In addition, when personal issues arise, employees with at least one year of service can work with their leaders to find scheduling solutions. Several First Horizon employees have reduced their schedules to 20–32 hours per week and have continued to receive all full-time benefits. This flexible arrangement is referred to as a "prime time" schedule.
Opportunities for Retirees: First Horizon’s 1,473 retirees benefit from the dedicated service of a staff member directly responsible for retiree relations. The Retiree Relationship Manager stays connected with retirees through regular communications, by inviting them to events at First Horizon, by providing retirees ongoing access to retirement planning, by formally acknowledging employees on the occasion of their retirement, and by providing quarterly luncheons and newsletters. Retirees can take advantage of work opportunities in the company, including temporary assignments, consulting and contract work, telecommuting, and part- and full-time positions.
Age of Workforce: Twenty-seven percent of First Horizon employees are age 50+, with an average tenure of 14.8 years.
