Benefits/Alternative-Work Arrangements: All employees working at least 20 hours per week are eligible for a number of alternative-work arrangements, including flextime, telecommuting, job-sharing, and compressed-work schedules. Full-time employees are also eligible for a formal phased-retirement program and can move to part-time work on a permanent or temporary basis.
Opportunities for Retirees: The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association has 158 retirees—all of whom benefit from a full-time staff member whose responsibilities include retiree relations. NRECA works to maintain contact with its retirees through invitations to events, a monthly newsletter, ongoing retirement workshops and planning information, and by recognizing employees on the occasion of their retirement. Retirees are eligible for full- and part- time work and consulting and temporary assignments.
Age of Workforce: Currently 37 percent of NRECA employees are age 50+, with an average tenure of 11.8 years.
