One of the best places on earth to do nothing is Tennessee. The state is so offhandedly gorgeous, you might just want to rent a cabin ($200 a week in some places) with a big covered porch and rockers, and alternate reading a book with searching for the divine among the piney wood hills. The home of country music — and some would say the root of all American music — is Nashville, of course. For those who like a little grittier paradise, there’s Memphis, home of Graceland, where some still see the King down in the Jungle Room. Wildlife fans say Tennessee also is famous for turtles, and prized for the whiskey named after Mr. Daniels’ son, Jack. — Photo by Jamie Grill/Aurora
