Treat Yourself to a Spa

My new favorite budget health spa is Red Mountain Resort in St. George, Utah. You may gasp at the cost, from $260 to $320 a day (not including taxes), but that’s for everything — great meals, classes, activities and useful health information in a stunning natural setting. Another favorite is the Heartland Spa, a former dairy farm in the hamlet of Gilman, Ill. Popularized but not overrun by the approval of Oprah, it boasts a shared-room rate for three nights of just over $1,000, including accommodations, nutritious meals and snacks, and all activities (which include cooking classes), as well as workout clothes and robes left at your door each day. The Heartland is so restful, there should be a three-day sleepers-only package.
