Looking for lift ticket discounts and camaraderie with your peers on the slopes? Join a senior ski club. The minute you hit 70, you qualify for the 70+ Ski Club, which this winter has been overseeing three days of races at Eastern ski areas and four weeklong group trips to major resorts in the West. Among the benefits you get for annual dues of $15 ($18 for couples) are a club jacket patch, a newsletter and a directory of slopes in the United States and Canada that offer free or discounted lift tickets to older skiers. Many ski areas let those over 80 ski for free.
Another nationwide group is the Over the Hill Gang International, which you may join at age 50. With dues starting at $60 a year ($100 for couples), the group offers discounts at U.S. and Canadian slopes and organizes escorted trips. You can also go on the Internet to find regional senior ski clubs near you.
