Radium Hot Springs is 105km (65 miles) SE of Golden; Vermillion Pass is 38km (24 miles) SW of Banff
Kootenay National Park [S], just west of Banff on the western slopes of the Canadian Rockies, preserves the valleys of the Kootenay and Vermillion rivers. The park contains prime wildlife habitats and a number of hiking trails. Although Kootenay's scenery is as grand as can be found anywhere else in the Rockies, its trails are considerably less crowded than those in the neighboring parks.
