En español | Ana Figueroa loves to travel and, lucky for us, probably the best trip she’s taken is from courtroom to cruise ships. The former litigator has gone from winning cases to garnering awards for her feature and travel writing. Now she joins AARP as our bilingual travel expert featured on AARP.org/espanol and AARP.org/viva.

The former staff reporter for Newsweek Magazine and freelance reporter for The New York Daily News and People Magazine, is a longtime contributor to AARP’s online and print publications. She calls Los Angeles home, but more likely than not can be found traveling throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia and Oceania—with a penchant for ocean and river cruises.

Ana is the former cruise editor and senior editor of TravelAge West, the prominent travel trade publication serving travel agents in the western United States. Her articles have been featured in the Boston Globe, CruiseCritic.com, Porthole Cruise Magazine, Travel WeeklyandTravelMarketReport.com, among others. She’s co-author of Avalon Travel Publishing’s Moon Metro Las Vegas guidebook and a founding cruise editor of Travelgirl Magazine. 

She’s appeared on the “Today Show,” “The O’Reilly Factor,” “Politically Correct with Bill Maher,” “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” “CNN Headline News” and NPR.
