2. Saguaro National Park, Arizona
One of the world's most impressive forests of giant saguaro cacti – which can grow as high as 50 feet – is in this Sonoran Desert park on either side of Tucson. Saguaro offers opportunities for hiking, including treks along several short, accessible nature trails rich with native desert plants, and bicycling in two distinct areas: the Tucson Mountain District (Saguaro West) and the Rincon Mountain District (Saguaro East).
