1. Watch the Trains at the New York Botanical Garden
Late each fall, the Holiday Train Show sets up shop in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. It's a mesmerizing display of intricate models zipping around tracks marked by miniature versions of the Brooklyn Bridge and other storied city symbols. If you've come this far, you might as well check out what's thriving on the grounds: the chrysanthemums in the Jane Watson Irwin Perennial Garden and the woodlands of the Thain Family Forest.
