PARK CITY, UTAH
Utah’s premier ski town, Park City has undergone explosive growth over the past decade, but the heart of the old mining town — and the something-for-everyone ski mountain — remain intact.
The stats tell the story: 15 lifts serving a massive 3,300 acres of terrain, and 360 inches of (mostly) dry snow annually. And for snowboarders (we know you’re out there!) PC offers three terrain parks, including the Eagle Superpipe, which hosted events during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The town, carved into the Wasatch Mountains a mere 35 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport, is as evolved as ski towns get. Don’t want to leave culture at home? Drop into a performance at the Eccles Center, where headliners range from Jeff Daniels and Natalie McMaster to Ed Asner and Sweet Honey in the Rock. Culinary highlights include fine dining at Talisker on Main Street, New York style pizza at Maxwell’s, in the Newpark Hotel, sushi at Yuki Arashi and casual fare at the Blind Dog Café.
Lift tickets: Ages 65 and over pay $58/day.
