5. Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, Mass: Jaws
This historic seafaring village has changed remarkably little since Steven Spielberg famously used it as the film location for the shark-struck town of Amity in Jaws, the 1975 movie based on Peter Benchley's monster best-seller.
6. Clearwater, Fla.: Dolphin Tale
Not only was the 2011 movie Dolphin Tale filmed in the little marine rehabilitation center where Winter, the famous dolphin-without-a-tail, actually lives, but Winter herself is the film's irrepressible star. In the year since the movie came out, attendance at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium has skyrocketed.
7. The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colo.: The Shining
True, this elegant ivory confection hardly brings to mind the haunted pile in the 1980 Stanley Kubrick horror flick The Shining. But the hotel was the original inspiration for the novel written by Stephen King. Although it never made it into Kubrick's film, it did star in the 1997 miniseries — and it's really haunted.
