In parts of Kenya and Tanzania lions were killing the cattle that families depended upon as a source of income.
The traditional solution was to kill the lions who threatened the Masai's livelihood. But this created another problem. If the killing continued, the lions would disappear altogether.
Then an American businessman, working with the group Conservation International, found a solution that preserved the tribes' culture and yet saved the lions.
