Best Off-Strip Restaurants
Raku Grill is a 10- to 20-minute drive from the Strip, but the flavorful Japanese grill specialties here make it totally worth the trip.

Best Theme Restaurant -- Generally speaking, we think theme restaurants are overpriced tourist traps, but Gilley's has such great down-home cooking that we're willing to overlook the mechanical bull.

Best Steakhouses
If you are looking for a traditional experience, you can't go wrong with the clubby atmosphere and side dishes included in the pricing at The Steakhouse, but if you want something more modern and fun, try the peppery cuts and peek-a-boo burlesque decor at Strip House.

Best Inexpensive Meal
Capriotti's serves monster submarine sandwiches. It roasts beef and turkey on the premises and assembles them (or cold cuts, or even vegetables) into delicious well-stuffed sandwiches, ranging in size from 9 to 20 inches; most of them are under $10. We never leave town without one or two.

Best Buffets
It's expensive, but the Buffet at Wynn Las Vegas serves high-quality food worthy of tablecloths and candlelight. Bargain hunters, however, won't need to sacrifice quality at the Main Street Garden Court Buffet.

Best Hamburgers
munchbar is basically a glorified snack bar, but their burgers will make you forget all about those drive-thru cheapies you are used to eating.

Best Desserts
It's not just chocolate at Max Brenner Chocolate Restaurant -- their dessert menu is 10 pages long -- but if you just stop at the chocolate selections we won't blame you.

Best Splurge
Food should not cost as much as it does at Joël Robuchon at the Mansion and the slightly less expensive sibling L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon, but a few bites of the exquisite cuisine will make you understand why it does.

Best Reason to Wait In Line
The lines at Pink's in Las Vegas aren't as long as the ones at the original in Los Angeles, but you may still have to queue up to get one of their wild hot dogs. Totally worth it.

Best Spots for a Romantic Dinner
Alizé at the top of the Palms, has windows on three sides of the dining room, with no other buildings around for many blocks. You get an unobstructed view of all of Vegas, the desert, and the mountains from every part of the restaurant. Aren't you in the mood already?

Best Breakfast
The twisted farm food at Hash House a Go Go features things like pancakes the size of pizzas and waffles with bacon baked right in. Forget the warmed-over eggs at the buffets and come here instead.

Best Late Night Dining
The aforementioned munchbar, Pink's, and Hash House are all open after midnight but Rock & Rita's is open 24 hours a day and serves up big portions of high-calorie food, a perfect remedy for a night of partying.
