Intel is inventing and testing products to help people age in place, broadly a smart house concept, with some monitoring, social networking, and reminder products. Inside E Street visits Eric Dishman, Director of Health Innovation and Policy for Intel and its new spinoff, Intel-GE-Care Innovations.
“In many ways I feel like I’ve been put on this planet to reinvent long-term care”, said Dishman who spent more than a decade developing technology to help seniors live independently. Dishman demonstrates some of his prototypes such as a health guide that allows virtual doctors’ visits, a reader that captures an image and read it back for the blind or those with low vision, and a device that helps identify if an older person may be at risk for a fall.
