Connecting Businesses with Skills and Experience
By: State: Wyoming | Source: AARP.org
The downturn of the national economy has hit Wyoming.
Although Wyoming still has one of the lowest employment rates in the nation, businesses are not as hungry to find “any warm body” to fill their job openings. They do, however, say that they still need skilled and experienced workers.
At the same time, more and more 50+ workers are delaying their retirement plans. And, retirees worried about their finances or their access to health care are contemplating coming out of retirement.
Connecting these skilled and experienced 50+ workers with the businesses that need their expertise is the aim of a workshop co-sponsored by AARP Wyoming, the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, Northwest College Center for Training and Development, and Forward Cody.
The workshop, set for Sept. 29, runs from 7:30 a.m. until noon at the Park County Complex, 1501 Stampede Avenue in Cody.
Hear from other Park County businesses that have successfully tapped into the skills and experience of 50+ workers to improve their bottom line and reduce their turnover rates. Learn how flexible work schedules can benefit both the employer and the worker. Discover how best to present yourself on paper and in person.
Take part in workshops and trainings and learn about resources available in the county, the state and nationally while you enjoy a free breakfast catered by Biblio Bistro.
To reserve a seat at the workshop, call the Cody Workforce Center at 307-587-4241.
