Tax Aide in Utah: Tis the Season!
|
From February 1 through April 15 each year, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers in Utah help prepare federal and state tax returns for middle and low-income taxpayers, with special attention given to people 60 and older. AARP Tax-Aide counselors receive comprehensive training and are certified by the Internal Revenue Service. These dedicated volunteers provide free one-on-one counseling, as well as assistance on the telephone and internet to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules. During the last tax season, AARP Tax-Aide counselors prepared more than 7,000 returns in Utah, helping taxpayers with their legal deductions and credits, resulting in tangible economic benefits to them.
In 2009 Tax Aide sites can be found in numerous locations from St. George to Tremonton. To find a Tax-Aide location near you, visit www.utahtax-aide.org and click on the Tax Aide Sites button on the left hand side of the page. The sites page will provide links to maps, times and phone numbers for the various locations being served by Utah AARP Tax-Aide this year. Appointments may be made at many of the Senior and Community centers and all of the sites located at Salt Lake County Libraries by calling the phone numbers shown.
Information on becoming a Tax-Aide volunteer for next year's tax season can also be found on this website.
Friends and family outside of Utah may want to visit the AARP Tax-Aide site locator, where they can enter their zip code and receive location addresses, schedules, and other contact information for sites in their state.
