Light refreshments includedIn recognition of National Family Caregivers Month, the Women?s City Club of New York, in cooperation with the Fordham Graduate School of Social Service and the Institute for Women and Girls, presents a discussion on the challenges of caregiving, its disproportionate impact on women, and policy solutions that would ensure caregivers are cared for too.Women account for approximately two-thirds of the more than 50 million people in the U.S. who care for loved ones. The free services provided by these family caregivers have an estimated value of more than $300 billion a year. The challenges they face, including physical and emotional strains, are compounded by longer life expectancy, increase in chronic illnesses,skyrocketing cost of care, diminished resources, and the current economic crisis.
