Food, fun, music and more.

What’s not to love about the South Dakota State Fair, and this year there are even more reasons to head to Huron.

Friday, August 29 is AARP day at the State Fair.  Join us at the sponsor’s tent from Noon to 1 p.m. for a free lunch and financial management workshop.  The one-hour presentation will provide need-to-know information to help you build a secure future, and protect your nest egg.  Learn the basics of investing, get tips for developing a beneficial relationship with your financial advisor and find out how to avoid being taken by a scam.  The lunch is free.  Seating is limited to the first 100 who arrive, so get there early to save your seat and get on track to a secure financial future.

Regular gate admission to the fair applies.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its founding, cake will be served at the Sponsor’s Tent from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturday, August 30, the anniversary celebration continues from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dakotaland Stage. The "We Found Sound" Show Choir will entertain the crowd with a free concert.

"We Found Sound" is comprised of 56 youth, grades 3-12, from nine different schools, directed by Kristi Kattner and Katie Schiebe of Huron. Refreshments will be served.

Be sure to visit the AARP booth for additional information on a variety of issues including health care and financial security.  While you’re there, sign the Divided We Fail pledge and share your story on health care or financial challenges.  Help us send a clear message to our leaders that it is time for less talk and more action to achieve quality affordable health care and life-time financial security for all.
