Public Invited to Attend Anniversary Celebration at Crazy Horse Memorial
For 50 years, AARP has been dedicated to making life better for people as they age. Founded in 1958, AARP now has nearly 40 million members, including more than 105,000 in South Dakota. Today AARP works across the generations, standing up for members and society as a strong nonpartisan advocate for social change. As the nation’s largest membership organization for people 50+, AARP is leading a revolution in the way people view and live life after 50. AARP’s 50th Anniversary, “Generations Connecting for Change,” will be a national celebration highlighting AARP’s foundation of leadership and service to others by uniting the generations and building a better future.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of its founding, AARP South Dakota is hosting a special event at Crazy Horse Memorial July 1. Hoop Dancer performances will be held at 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. AARP national board member Richard Johnson and AARP volunteer state president, Patrick Gross will make brief comments at 2:00 p.m. with anniversary cake and refreshments served immediately following.
