Register Now for Lobby Day 2009

Each year the AARP South Dakota Lobby Day at the state capitol gets bigger and bigger, and 2009 will be no exception. In the past we've designated three separate Lobby Days, one for each region. For 2009, we're thinking really big. Tuesday, Jan. 27, AARP volunteers from across South Dakota will converge on the capitol on one day for conversation with lawmakers on the key issues of health care, long-term care, and consumer issues.

As in years past, bus transportation will be provided from several locations, along with a noon meal, transportation to the capitol, and a meal for the return trip. More importantly, volunteers will have the opportunity to sit face to face with their representatives to discuss bills AARP South Dakota is working on during the legislative session. Once at the capitol, the group will be joined by Governor Mike Rounds, for a photo in the capitol rotunda, then it's on to the state house and senate galleries, to watch the action and remind lawmakers they're in Pierre to do the people's work—our work.

AARP has long been a voice for change in Pierre, but we can't do it alone. We need you, our members and volunteers, to join us in calling for change - change that makes life better for our neighbors and our families for generations to come.

If you have been to AARP South Dakota Lobby Days in the past, and you have received a red fleece AARP vest, please wear it. These vests have become a vividly recognizable symbol of AARP's presence and power!
